WHO WE ARE TOP
The Footscray Asian Businesses Association was
founded in 1990 to represent the interests of the
increasing numbers of traders from the Far East that
were revitalising and developing Footscray. We needed
to ensure that we contributed to the development of our
thriving, multicultural city and fully participated in
decisions that concerned us.

Over the years, FABA has become by far the largest
business organisation in Footscray, with the vast majority
of traders of Far Eastern origin in Footscray being
members. We are an integral part of Footscray and a
key driver of development, growth and change.

However, FABA not only represents the interests of
business people. As community leaders, and with our
very close involvement with the Vietnamese Community
Association of Australia and other community groups,
we help to represent the interests of cultural groups and
community organisations as well.

Approximately 1/3 of the 65,000 people in Maribyrnong were
born in the Far East or are the children of parents from there.
Footscray also attracts large numbers of customers and visitors
from all cultural background who come to shop, to eat, and to join
in our rich cultural life.

FABA is committed to building partnerships and we are actively
involved with:

  • Maribyrnong City Council
  • Yarra Trams
  • Victoria Police
  • Quang Minh Temple
  • ANZ Bank
  • CBA Bank
  • The Victorian Multicultural Commission

- and a whole host of other community organisations, service
providers and NGOs.
